On May 24, 2024, “Innovations Unleashed” celebrated Africa Day with a dynamic workshop focusing on the role of education and the African Diaspora in driving technological advancements across the continent. The event, held at 08:00 AM PST / 11:00 AM EST / 3:00 PM GMT, provided a platform for exploring how educational institutions and Diaspora-led initiatives can propel technological innovation in Africa.

 

The workshop targeted faculty and students from tech-focused universities, members of the African Diaspora in tech, African tech entrepreneurs, and investors interested in emerging African markets. Key takeaways included:

 

– Integration of Technology in Education: Insights into incorporating cutting-edge technology into African educational curricula.

– Diaspora-Led Initiatives: Success stories of tech initiatives by the Diaspora impacting education and entrepreneurship in Africa.

– International Collaborations: Benefits of global partnerships in advancing technological education and innovation.

– Networking Opportunities: Building connections for future collaborations and projects.

 

Speakers included Stanley Mukasa, Associate Director of Entrepreneurship at Carnegie Mellon University Africa; Dr. Grant M. Warner, Executive Director of the Center for Black Entrepreneurship; and Paul Wilson, Jr., Founder & CEO of Wilson Strategy Agency, LLC. The session was moderated by Omolayo Nkem Ojo, Director of Programs and Operations at ADN.
